I first came across the Women’s Circle during a difficult period of transition. I was no longer a girl, but not yet brave enough to accept myself as a woman. The truth is, I was scared to grow up and take responsibility for my life. Many of my girl friends were buying houses, getting married, having babies; I was still trying to work out who I was. The Women’s Circle gave me space, to discover what it meant to be me, to work out what I actually wanted and what was right for me, and to let go of other people’s opinions and expectations. The circle offered support from women who understood, who accepted me in whatever way, shape or form I arrived in, women who empowered me. I came across a beautiful quote by Zen Shin “A flower does not think of competing with the flower next to it. It just blooms”. This is exactly how I felt being amongst the women in the circle. No competition. All of us, just gently blossoming in our own beautiful way, in our own perfect time.
